reef crystals vs instant ocean

Is there any benefit to using reef crystals over instant ocean? If reef crystals are better that I will gladly pay the extra couple bucks to use them but will the crystals benefit my corals? could it add too much calcium to my tank? If anyone has experience with the two I would love to have some feedback. Thanks!

I have used both, and I prefer the reef crystals. I tested a gallon of each, and the reef crystals is 420 on the calcium , the IO was 360. Also the magnesium is higher too. I did notice an increase in growth and coloration of sps corals and clams when compared to regular IO.

yeah i have only heard bad things about instant ocean. I have used reef crystals before and they worked out good for me, but then i up graded to tropic marine and its like gold.
