Im thinking about buying a 48" 4x54W SLR T5 Very High-Output Retrofit Kit w/ Bulbs from reef geek. In the description it says that the ballasts overdrives the bulbs to 85 watt? So I would have a 4x85W lighting fixture or am I wrong? thx for help.

Yes, 48" (54w) T5ho lamps can be overdriven to about 83-85w using Icecap ballasts. The same bulbs will run at 54w with a spec ballast.
Depending on how deep your tank is, you may not need to overdrive the bulbs. IMO a tank less than 24" deep can be lit just fine with normally driven lamps, no need to overdrive them and cut bulb life.
Reefgeek is a great place to buy from. Customer service is top notch.

Well I want to overdrive them just incase I ever want to keep anything that requires a lot of light to grow because I dont think 4x54w would be able to keep everything I want down the road.

I'm glad to hear good things about these guys...I never heard of them before and I did an internet search and found them. They had good prices and shipping fees so I'm waiting on my order of T5 bulbs to get here tomorrow!
