What can I use for glueing coral and rock under the water? The gel seems to work out of the water but not under. Thanks

Epoxy Putty works. Two little Fishes - AquaStik.... Can cause the skimmer to go mad for a day, but I have used it many times on SPS underwater.

I've tried using the gel I seem to be about 50% on it working just wondering if there was something better?

The trick to using gel is to place a dab on the "rock" you are using and where you want the frag to go, and let dry. Next place a dab on the frag itself. holding just the glue covered part out of the water and let dry. Once the two parts are dry place a dimple on one part and a dimple on the other and hold together for ten to twenty seconds. place frag in spot of choice and be done with it. The whole trick realy it have just a dab in the two pieces, a little goes a long way. Also you want the area as dry as possible, I use paper towels and q-tips to dry and a little flat head to scrap the area of live rock to make it smooth. I use the loctite super gel with out one problem.

Actually I just used the loctite get for the first time last week. I just put a small amount on the coral, positioned it on the rock then used a shell that was in the tank to scotch it in place. Within about 2 or 3 minutes I checked and it was holding securely so I removed the scotch. This has been my only experience so far, but seemed to work fine once I allowed for the slower drying time underwater.

I can't remove the rock I want to stick the coral to. It's to large to remove from the tank and would create a huge mess. That's why I'm looking for somthing I can glue with under water. I have taken out the coral put gel on it and tried sticking it to a rock under the water.

Try epoxy putty as mentioned earlier. This works every time under water for me anyway.
What kind of Coral are you trying to attach?

Hey Zman do you ball it up smash it down? The rocks are to big to strap a rubber band too.

It's a two part epxoy the white and grey you see. This is activated by kneeding it for a few minutes. Then ball it around the base of the SPS frag and press it on the surface you are attaching it to. It comes in another color red or pink I think. Coraline grows on it pretty fast. I always hope the Frag grows faster and covers it up before coralline - LOL
If your frag is already on a small rock, then ball it up and press it down on one side and let a little of the epoxy rap around the rock on the frag.

Could you tie it with a string till it affixes itself to the rock?
