**Reef Lighting... need advice :(

Hello all. I just upgraded to a 125gal (2' high, 5' wide, 18" deep). Right now just Tangs, 1 clown, about 80 lbs LR, various crabs and snails, 2 brittle star. I want to set up a reef with coral (hard... no plans for SPS at this time), frags, etc etc.... need lighting advice! By reading other threads on this and other forums, it seems that either PC or MH would do.... but I cant get a definite answer on what I need!!! What are you using and how is it working?

I would recomend MH. when i switched, even before i started adding sps, all my corals, esspecialy my LPS like my frogspawns were looking a LOT nicer. mushrooms too. And esspecialy zoos.

i would recomend both MH and VHO, thats what im doing on my 125 reef, 2x250 watt MH, and 2x(not sure what watt) 6 ft actinic VHO bulbs

I would go with as much lighting as you can afford, MH & Actinics you can't go wrong with. I mad e acouple of stupid mistake with setting up a few frag tanks and now have to change my lighting systems, seems like a lot of people up grade the lighting over a period of time as you experience level increases you'll start to understand.....Check the classified section on this fourm, i'm getting rid of a couple of used fixtures, 1 month old, my loss your gain... or email me at harrybarkers@aol.com
