I been looking at this reflector located at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx but I was not sure if its any good for reef tanks. I been into saltwater for sometime now but mainly just fish and I just started buying live rock and corals so I ended up buying a power compaq but I would like to put another reef tank together and that reflector on xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx looks nice and does not cost that much.. The bulb I was looking at is 1000 watts which that reflector supports the BT37 1000 watt at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx so I was looking at under $200 for 1000 watts which I was planning on doing a 75 so I could get 2 nice lights for $400 which is almost the price I paid for the power compaq. Any idea if this light is good for saltwater?
Thanks,
-Chris

I think that 2000 watts of light would be excessive on a 75gallon tank.
The kelvin degree is important also. It describes the color spectrum the bulb provides, and the appearance of things illuminated buy the bulb.
4000 k bulbs are going to apear very green/yellow. And so will your tank...with algae.
5400k is the rating of Iwasaki bulbs...kinda green.
I burn 10000k bulbs...crisp white/hint of blue.
Some folks run 20,000k bulbs... intense white/blue.
do a search for "diy mh" and follow the link to RPI where they have a side by side comparison of several popular bulbs. The difference is startling.
