I have had an emerald crab in my nano reef tank for months. But he only ever comes out at night.

My dad had a hermit turn on one of his polyps last night. So they aren't all perfect. Its hit and miss with any creature.
That said, I enjoyed my Arrowhead crab(before he climbed out)
Once in a while I see my Emerald.
My Sally light foot was awesome!(but Ive heard they eat zoos sometimes), guess I was lucky.

Most "reef Safe" crabs are scavangers.. But they will kill if they luck across a sleeping or traped fish. I have several emeralds in mine so far so good.

All crabs are "with caution" to a degree. None are 100% reef safe. There are some that are considered more reef safe than others, such as an anemone crab (aka Porcelain crab - Neopetrolisthes maculatus). Emeralds are considered fairly reef safe and I almost never have luck with them
