Reef safe Golden Moray eel

I have a reef safe Golden Moray eel (also known as a canary eel) that is in my 115 gallon reef tank with:
Hippo Tang
Sailfin Tang
Harlequin tusk
clown fish
bi-coler blenny
The tank has been running for about 2 years and has been very stable.
The eel has been in the tank for about 4 months now and has been pretty active, eats well and gets along well with eveybody in the tank. Over the last few weeks I have noticed his activity has slowed incredibly and ofetn he is in hiding. When he extends from the rocks he looks a bit limp (slumped over) and almost looks like he is struggling to breath. I don't know what is wrong, but I'm pretty sure he is sick. His diet only consists of Frozen silversides and I usually feed him 4-5 in one feeding about once a week. I think it may have been something in a recent pack of silversides I bought....just a thought. They always look freezer burned. I've done water changes and all the parameters for the water is fine (everybody else in the tank is doing great).
I know that this eel is pretty rare and as with most eels I expect him to be extremely hardy. I'm just asking if anyone knows about or has seen any instances where these eels can get sick and what may be a common cause. Please help..I shelled out a good $200+ for him and he is the pride of my tank. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

Not much you can do to for food poisoning, except treat with antibiotics, and you can't do that within a reef tank. I would not feed any fish anything other than high quality foods. I think I would also spread out feedings rather than gorging 1 feeding 1x a wk. However, I am not exp with eels.
I'll copy your thread over to aggressive to see if you get some more advice from hobbyists who keep eels.

its very important to give variety to these eels to ensure there long term health. Try offering raw fish/shrimp (mine love shrimp), etc. Try to avoid frozen foods if possible. Also try live crabs (fidlers if u can get a hold of them)
