reef safe paint

been reading post here for some time now and remembering reading about spray painting your pvc plumbing. If i recall correctly, krylon is the type of paint used that is reef safe? i just painted the background of my 210 a dark blue and my pvc is sticking out like a sore thumb. Anyway, if anyone knows what paint to use it would be apreciated. thanks

Any type of plastics specialty paint will work. Rusto, Krylon whatever... Just be sure to cure it for 48 hours before putting it into your tank.

it might behoove you to scour the pvc with fine grit sandpaper so the paint will have something to grab onto, to prevent flaking. i wouldnt suggest painting it, but if you're going to i think this extra step will be well worth the little effort

It would actually be a waste of time and effort. Plastics paints are designed to self prime to plastic surfaces as opposed to other types of paints.
Scuffing the surface is not going to make it stick anymore, that applies to other materials and other paints.

well, either way, i still wouldnt recommend using any kind of paint for inside of the aquarium. that's just me, though, and my over-cautious self. what color are you going to paint the plumbing anyways?

well, if you scour the pvc, then coralline will eventually grow on it, thus producing your desired purple color. this solution will be a natural one, but would take some patience on your part.

this is very true but im not really into the coraline walls, my last tank was covered in it, it looked nice but im really starting to like the clean glass look as i can look through the tank.

Coraline is over rated. Most people will praise coraline because it is a sign that your tank is using its Ca properly.
Running a SPS dominated tank, excess coraline actually robs my SPS of the 2 part I am dosing so I clean it off all my glass.
