Reef survey?

How many reef experts use a UV sterilizer. I've been getting mixed answers. Please clarify this for me.

You don't want to use a UV with a reef tank, because it will kill the bad guys "ich" and the good guys that your live crals will feed on. The UV will kill everything and decrease food for corals and inverts.

I agree with dirtybilge. In a reef it will deplete your water of a nessessary food sourse needed by your corals and other invrts. If you have ick i your tank, there other methods of takng care that problem.
