I am a little concerned about the flow in my tank. I have a 54 gal corner with a magnum 305 with a spray bar. I also have two maxijets 1200 in there I had to turn off because it seemed to be blowing my kids around too much. I also have a koralia that I took out. I dont know the size, it was given to me, but I think its a nano. I made a spray bar for one of the maxijets, but am afraid it will still be too much for the horses. Do you think I should change out the maxijets and try the Koralia instead or should I just get smaller powerheads.
I dont want any dead spots.

I have the same tank...I have a Cascade 700 filter with the spray bar, a koralia 1, and a maxijet 400....I also added that air line you suggested forthe cyano issue. My horses seem to like the new flow, and it seems just right. I have both the koralia and maxi jet on the right side corner bottom..pointing to the left so the water circulates around the tank..Since I have done this, my cyano is almost all gone too.

here is a full tank shot so far. I think I will try the koralia and I have a small water pump I may put in the very back. I also have an air line.

I have airlines in a lot of my tanks. Trying to keep the ole CO2 monster away.
My 50 gallon has a lot of flow in it. But it also has it's quiet spots.

I have open airlines in my tanks as well. Seahorses can handle a bit more flow than most believe. As long as there are areas in the tank that are calm you should be fine adding additional flow.
Since I use feeding dishes for my horses, I also make sure the flow isn't TOO strong that it blows the mysis out of the dish and all around the tank.

My hex tank has an odd footprint also , and I use a 500gph pointed at the center of the tank and have 3 airlines in that one.In the 55's I have 2 smaller gph powerheads,a 343 gph but turned down to 1/2 of that and on the other side I think its a 200gph with 2 airlines each tank. Theres some calm spots, and I turn off the powerheads 2x a day to feed.I like the off brand powerheads like aquila and jebo...there cheap , work great and the cover for the intake is well made ,no chance of a tail getting sucked up..

I, too, love the rock work!
I wonder if they'd be happier with just the one maxijet and the little koralia. I can see how two might be a bit much.
what's this I hear about adding an airline to combat cyano? Does this work well? I don't have a major cyano problem, but any tricks to beat that demon are good to have in reserve!

Thanks, I was almost afraid there was too much, but i like it. I would like some longer pieces of tonga in there. I added a couple red macros tonight and small pieces of branch for hitches. I need to clean my red hitch and finish curing the one I made. Its almost ready for the tank.

I took out both maxi jets and added my korlia 1. I think i just need a small pump for the other side - I am going to wait and see. I may be able to just adjust the spray bar.
