Reflector for VHO's?

I have ordered new VHO lights. Three 24" bulbs with Icecap ballest. I have the conopy already, and the bulbs have built in 180 degre reflectors. My question is, Do I need a reflective material mounted to the inside lid of the canopy before I mount the lights?
Thanks

No. But the inside of your canopy should be white. The reflectors for the lights are on the lights, like you said. Do you have the three piece end caps? If you do, make them slightly tight, meaning the length of the bulbs are 24". So the span between the end caps should be 23 and 3/4". You'll see what I mean. They are "spring loaded" sort of. So tighter is better. HTH--Bob

I also have VHO's with built in reflectors. They are mounted to the hood which I just painted a high gloss white. Seems to work well. Bobber said it all. Good Luck

Thanks for the info. I was not sure if I wanted to spend the money on polished aluminum. I already ordered the lights, so I think I will go with the white paint.
Thanks :D

What about a high gloss silver? Has anyone done this or thought about it? Just wondered. :D

You want to make the color as bright as possible. I don't think high gloss silver is any better than white. :D

I had the same issue when I built my hood and installed my URI VHO lights. I purchased alumiun (sp) stove piping from Home Depot. I cleaned it up, polished it up and installed it. I works great and only cost around $8 for my 48 inch canopy.
