Basically for new hobbyists and I consider myself new even doing this for a couple of years buying a reractometer was the best thing I ever bought it saved abou 10-12 fish of mine tha ta simple $5 hydrometer would not have worked...so to all you out there who are starting up and I know it gets pricey and things add up..better spend on the refractometer it's worth it in the end.
