Refractometer or Salinity Monitor

I want to get a more accurate way of checking my salinity so that I can treat with Hypo and know that I have reached the correct salinity. All the Hydrometers I have tried seem to give a different reading every time I use them especially at a lower salinity. I found a refractometer for about $100 and was about to order one when I saw a Pinpoint Salinity Monitor for a few more dollars and thought it might be easier to use since it has a digital read out. I was woundering if anyone has tried one of these monitors and if so are they accurate enough to use for treating with Hypo. Also is it something that you leave in the tank all the time or can you just drop the probe in any tank and get a reading. I plan to buy one of these this weekend and appreciate any input or recomendations. Thanks.

I don't have one, yet, but its on the top of my list to get.
I know you put this thread here because you are interested in getting opinions about using these monitors for hyposaliniy so let me address your question about using them for hypo.... Hands down, they do give more accurate readings than the swing-arm or floating hydrometers.
That said, I'm going to move your thread over to Equiptment Forum where I think it will get more responses. You might want to mention what brand refrac you are talking about if you want to compare to the Pinpoint.
