refuge lights

Most people try to run theirs opposite of their display tank lighting schedule. I run mine on the same timer and so they are on 12 hours a day. I'm have run it 24/7 in the past. Certain types of algae will go sexual under patterns of dark cycle and so some people HAVE to leave the lights on 24/7.
I would recommend setting them on the same schedule as your tank.

by no means an expert, i've read that if you put opposite your tank, it can help with ph swings.

24/7 helps if you have macro algae and coral, If you don't have coral then if you run it opp. of your main tank helps with ph swings
