Refuge Outside?

I have been tossing around the idea of a dream setup with a refuge outside being pumped in. I was thinking of building like a tide pool in my back yard, and then putting a plexi glass lid over it to keep stuff out. I think if you were to grow macros under the big halide you would see an amazing phosphate control. The only thing that most people have to worry about is the temperture, but I live in SO Cal so the weather stay very consistent throughout the year.
Anyways, please tell me all what you think, would change, would not do, whatever.
