could i get a 10 gal tank and make it saltwater just for a refuge or does have to feed into my display tank. i have no room for a overflow box. all i want is to set up a refuge/ QT tank to reproduce pods and quaritine fish... and if so does it have to cycle if i use sand and water from my display??????????

You won't be able to treat a fish for disease because it will kill all your pods. You would have to have lr or chaeto(disease treatment will kill them too) to reproduce pods. The fish you put in will eat all the pods. You still must have some sort of filtration in the tank. Power filter, internal filter, and yes it must be cycled.
How big is your display tank? any fish or inverts yet? what type of filtration do you have? Give us some info on your tank and maybe we can give you some different ideas.
