Refugium Flow Rates

Alright! Almost ready to build my refugium... One last question. I've noticed that most people recommend a low flow rate through a refugium. I have also noticed that CPR recommends an extremely high flow rate through their hang on systems (600-800gph for 45-65g tank) I'm wondering what the reasoning is behind determining flow rates in refugiums. I have a 60g display, and a 10 or 15g refugium in the works, If you have a suggested flow rate! Thanks for everyone's help with my questions!

I run a refugium on my 55 reef and I prefer to keep a relatively low flow rate(currently approx 150 GPH). In my refugium I keep an assortment of caulpera algaes and there is LS & rubble. The reason for my low flow rate is to keep the algaes from tossing around and to give them time to comsume the excess nutrients from the display water prior to it returning. Plus my refugium gravity returns.....a low flow rate works better with the return system I use. I've seen and heard of much higher rates ...and there is no doubt they also work.....but the system I use has been extremely effective.
