refugium help

new to this whole refugium thing...i just placed an order for some refugium plant...red in color...my tank has housing for the refugium in the rear...and just wondering besides the usual acclimation process are there any other special rules or tips that anyone has ?

Lights are needed for macroalgae to live and grow. As it grows remove the extra, it is loaded with nitrates it removed from your tank. Have some sand on the bottom and some rubble rock. You should be good to go.

sand from my tank will do right? the tank came with a light for the refugium...i will be visiting my lsf for rubble rock...quick question how often show i trim or "remove" and do i do this with a special tool or are scissors fine?

I used sand from my tank, I'm not sure about trimming the macro...LOL..I have to get some myself, I have never gone that route yet, so I was just passing info I was told from folks on this site that I trust. I plan to get some macros this next week.

Yes, and it's good for the refugium and it should drop nitrates in your tank..I think the stuff SWF sells is Gracillia or something like that.
