Hello and Happy New Year!!
I just set up a 20 gallon Refugium, and I was wondering what kind of lighting should i uses. The guy at the LFS tole me to use all white lighting at about 18 to 20 watts. Is this OK?
Thanks

What are you putting in there? Just cheato or caulerpa? Some people put decent lighting in them so they have a place for frags. I have about 40 watts on 25G+ and it grows cheato fine. Xynia doing well too. On another tank I have a cheap strip light with 18W on a 20G and it grows below average.

It won't die but it won't rage either. Good growth lets you harvest out more over a shorter period, thus removing more toxins from the tank.

I found a 26w power compact fixture on the big auct. site that fits perfectly sideways across my 20 gal fuge. Might want to check that out.
I had caleurpa and switched to cheato. Both grew VERY quickly
