ok for those that dont know ive got a 200 that i want to buile a bar around, so it will only be sitting 6-8 inches off the ground. has anyone ever built a refugium next to the main tank?? i have holes drilled in the bottom dead center front to back, each 1/3 of the way across the length. plus on one side i have a built in overflow with wet dry media. that is 15 inches wide, and like 3 feet tall, top to bottom of the tank. i figure i might be able to plug the holes in the main tank and just use the wet/dry and a big refuguim, maybe 55 gal, dime a dozen and still have room for the keg and tap. the wet dry empties out of the bottom, and returns through the bottom. anybody got any ideas on how to move the water from place to place since they will be at the same heigth? 2 pumps maybe, plus thinking of power outages (California, hehe) whats gonna happen? oh yeah, doing the first test this weekend on the crazy idea sump/refugium system with the shutoff valved to clean substrate and drain tank, ill get pics this weekend, wish me luck!!!!!! oh yeah, thanks for the input on the 200 in advance.

If the tank and the refugium will be pretty much at the same level(next too each other) you could use a syphon return...Of even a spillway type return..I have a syphon return on my refugium. It is sitting next to my sump.So yours would be kinda the same setup...

so if i could get that to work, theoretically, would a wet/dry thats like 8inches by 15 inches by 3 feet deep, what would be the min. size tank fot just a big ol' refuguim, would 55 work??? and then maybe like a berlin turbo XL???
