Refugium plumbing

I was thinking about setting up a refugium to work with my tank and sump, but I am confused how I would maintain even water flow between tank, sump, and refugium. How is this done?

You tee the return line and over flow the refugium. Water comes from the tank into the sump. You pump out the sump up the return line. The return line you will have a tee in it and run a line into the refugium to fill it. The refugium fill line needs a valve to control the amount of flow into the refugium this valve will also control how much flow will go up the return line back in the tank. You then over flow or bulkhead from the refugium to the sump.
