refugium question

have had a refugium past two years but growth inside has been minimal. The water drops via gravity from the DT into a micron filter bag before it flows into the center vestibule of the fuge. I've long thought that this might be robbing the microfauna from necessary sources of food. Do I have this set up properly?

it sounds right.
I "feed" my Fuge a litte flake food every once and a while, Mostly for the hermits and peppermint shrimp in there

I dont use micron sox. They do rob the refugium of food.

Yeah ditch the sock. Aside from robbing all the goodness for the fuge, it is just a big expensive nitrate source(seeing how it needs to be changed every 3 to 5 days)

What was the reason for a refug in the first place

ok guys..thx. will try without the sock. i did notice once a week when cleaning it that it collected a ton of debris. hope the fuge microfauna are ready for it.
