instead of using a separate tank to build a algai refugium, can t I do it in my sump, i have space under my bioballs? this off course is all in one tank, ?

You can do it in one setup, but remember that the refug needs slow moving water. I would tee off your line into the sump and put a ball valve to adjust the water in the refug side.
Room under your bioballs? don't quite follow you. Macro algea needs light, it wont grow under the balls. I would ditch the ball anyway. My .02

Check out my diagram below....slow gph in ONLY the refugium section of the 30g sump....all diy....no balls...except the ones needed to stay in this hobby! heh heh! :cool:

What are the dimen's of your sump now? how many "chambers"? Give us a pic here if ya can. yeah, take out the balls.
