Refuium

I just set up a 125 gallon reef tank and used 2 cannister filters I had, a fluval 404 & a eheim pro II. Th equestion is, are the cannisters OK to use, I have an opportunity to get a refugium with a hang on prefilter. Would this be a more efficient setup than the cannisters? :notsure:

IMO You should be looking into a sump. the cannisters will not be enough fitration. althought they would be a great "added" or bonus filtration.
I have a magnum 350 cannister that i use along with my sump, on my 90 Gallon, and It is primarily used for "buffing the water" with carbon a couple times a week.
Just a suggestion.

As a fellow canister user, I would go with the fuge if I had the room.
Though I must say, I do not have any problems I can relate to the canister and wet/dry I use. If you keep it clean on a weekly basis, it should be ok. Water looks crystal clear in my tank...BUT....
I am beginning to wonder, since I just posted regarding high po4 readings if theyare contributing to the problem, which a fuge will most certainly not. I do clean them constantly, and i think my po4 problem is more feeding related (too much)
but ya never know...
Im going to cut down my feeding and see what happens.
I cant wait to have my nexthome built so I can do a proper fish room and system with a 300+ tank!
