Refusium - DSB Vs Miracle Mud

I'm looking to put together a refusium, and I am unsure weather a DSB or Miracle Mud is a better choice of substrate. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Also, Miracle Mud recommends a flow rate of 600-800 GPH on a 40-65 gallon system. Any idea why it's so high? Isn't water contact the same at a slightly lower speed?

Never used the mud but by their own directions you need to replace 50% of it in one to two years. I do not like the thought of that. Seems to me once it becomes established you shoul leave it alone.
Your choice but I like the DSB approach....

The MM I know is indorsed by Mike Paletta (author) I have had heated arguments with him, he swears by it and I can't get him to even tell me the truth. Eco Systems is abviously paying him allot for the indorsement.
In my opinion the muds a joke and is nothing more than river sand and a label (sorry Mike). As with most sea huggin' products and herbal remidies. I'll stick with the antibiotics personally and as for your question DSB WITH OUT A DOUBT!!!
Good keeping...
P.s. however I do endorse many eco system products just not the mud and ecosystem pacage. Although refugiums are at the cutting edge of the hobby.
