Regal Tank seems sad

Hello All,
I have a question, we just recently moved and when we moved the fish tank we found that our bicolor blenny was missing, we just chalked it up to another of our tanks mysteries and didn't think much about it. But now I am noticing that my Regal Tank seems sad and just sits in a corner alot, him and the blenny were really good friends and liked to swim around alot. SO my question is what, besides the bicolor blenny, make good friends for my tang? Do any of your tangs have a certain fish they like to hang out with etc? Thanks alot!

Are you sure you don't have poor water quality that could have takent the blenny and is stressing the tang?

One main mistake in fish keeping is giving human attributes to fish.. normally this isnt' a problem but lonelyness is not a fish response. being excited is another example, these are not normal attributes of fish. these reactions from the fish that you percieve are "sad" and "excited" are really considered instincts to fish due to exterior conditions.
* long story short....check your water...or if that checks out give the fish something to do..so move the rock scapeing...or change the flow directions.

I don't mean to argue with what you are saying, because I do agree it is probably the water quality.
However, when you say "being excited", what do you mean? My fuzzy dwarf lion is "excited" every time I come to the tank. She comes right out to the front of the tank most times and swims around majestically near the glass because she knows that I am there and she is "excited" to see me. I know she is not looking to eat, because she would be in the corner, the same spot where she is every time I feed her. She knows that when she is in that corner of the front of the tank, she is fed. How would you explain her coming to the front of the tank then if this is not excitement? I am just curious.

I dont know the logistics of the fish opticals It may be a relation to shadows and a "curiousity" could be vibrations?

You gave very little specs on you system so its hard to recomend another, but I have a Regal and it seems courius with all its tankmates and I have a few, other tangs, drawf angles, blennies and damsels, ect.
IMO, its possible for a fish to get sad or depressed or confused or whatever you want to call it from a change in decor or habbitat, ect. so maybe another blenny may be best.

acually i am with lion on this one.i do beleive fish can think and decifer one person from another my fish know im the food giver no one else in my house feeds my fish at any given time people can walk by the tanks or in the room and the fish swim around as normal but if i enter the room or show any interest in the tanks they come to the front of the glass swimming quickly quickly and almost exited in appearance.I have one tank in my kitchen this ne I have a piney boxfish and other large fish if i open the freezer door they go nuts, they realy do seam to know thats where i keep their food.if i aproach my tanks with a cup simular to their feeding cup they go nuts. as for fish buddying up i have a few fish that tend to do that.my scat loves his foxface they even sleep together,my panther grouper sleeps on my spiney boxfishes head lol(i dont think spike enjoys it as much as the grouper does but he does tolerate it. there is nothing funnier than seeing an 8 inch boxfish puffer wearing a 12 in panther grouper as a hat lol.i would love to get pics but if spike sees me he swims up to me killing the kodak moment lol
