Relocating a Tonga Leather

I have a good sized Tonga Leather, about 8 inches around, it was just a frag but has gotten to the point where it is sitting it is starting to cover over onto the power head and blocking light from my dragon zoa that is growing nicely. I really like the leather and would like to relocate it to a more decretive spot, where it isn’t in the way of everything else.
Will it hurt it to pull it up from the place it is attached to? It is really dug in and follows the very form of the rock crevices, so I would really have to pull it out.
Right now it is directly under the MH lights, where I want to move it is a little lower in the tank and at an angle…will it feel light starved?
I don’t want to frag it, that was what I originally was going to do…I don’t want to cut on it…not yet. What do you guys think?

I had to pull mine out of his spot about a month ago (moved whole tank actually) and it did him no harm, I did nothing special just tried to be gentle. And I'm sure he would be fine farther down from the lights they don't need a ton.

Thanks, what a relief… The Tongas around here all look beat up, with sore spots. Mine looks so perfect and I hate to disturb it. But he is just about into the power head so I need to do something. The base on this thing is like 4 1/2 inches. I am not going to try and move it until next weekend. I like to have a plan and all the advice I can get.

Yeah that's JME so hopefully someone that knows more can give you something more helpful. Mine is about the same size as yours and was attached to two different rocks and he came off easier than I thought.

When I first got this leather it was always getting blown around and wouldn’t stay put…so I found a hole and set the base in that…It has now spread huge way past that hole but it is really dug in. I tugged pretty good on it, it isn’t letting go. Any ideas??? Can I maybe peel the edges a little at a time, will it eventually release?
I can’t move the rock…it is a huge ledge I used to create a cave. I want the neon dragon eyes zoa to spread all over the top of it. So now I need to get the Tonga leather off.
