REMORA C PRO SKIMMERw/BUBBLE ELIMININATOR SET UP

Just set up our skimmer last night. Is a bit loud but I hear that it will level off and the sound will drop, is this tru and for how long does it take? I am hoping we have done this right. Last night little foam bubbles were coming up the middle and overflowing slowly into the collection box. Today now, I see some liquid that is brown, not thick or anything about 1/4 up from the bottom but don't really see anything coming up that center tube anymore. System new but how do you set so you know the settings are correct for your tank? How do you know it is doing its job? Our tank is newly cycled for a week or so. 90 gallon with 80 lbs of live rock, one soft coral is it and quite a bit of cleanup crew. Bubble eliminator box is also inside and seems ok. Took a little while for the micro bubbles to go away last night but now not seeing any. Last night without the prefilter box TONS of micro bubbles. Would all those bubbles always be that bad without the bubble eliminator box? thanks for the help in advance!!

Sounds like its working OK but check to see if enough water is going into box to keep the pump submerged. Might need to lower box if you can. Might be why its loud. A lot of ppl. say that the boxs do not let water flow in fast enough.
Alot of micro bubbles is not good for fish because they strip needed slime coat off of fish plus they make water look clowdy

I have the same set up. There is no magical setting. You will experiment with raising and lowering the collection cup until you get the skim you want. A higher cup may go 3-4 days before you have to empty it but it will be a darker liquid with some larger particles and a dark brown film inside the tube, the top and sides of the cup. You know the skimmer is pulling out some nasty stuff! Some people prefer to get more out but it is lighter in color and fills up the cup faster. You also need to replace the water it takes out if you empty the cup everyday. It is a matter of preference. I wouldn't worry about it too much right now because your tank is young and not much of a bioload so no need doing alot of adjusting until your tank and the skimmer break in. It will not bubble up all the time and reacts to having your hands in the water, feeding, corals expelling etc. so it is not always a constant skimming going on. It will quiet down.
