I bought my Remora Pro skimmer w/ Rio 1700 pump used online (mistake?) so it's already been broken in.
On the first day of use, I poured in about 150 lbs of aragamax sand which made my tank look like a milk shake. The skimmer seemed to work great and I saw bubbles pulling sludge out into my collection up. Now, a couple of days later, my water is crystal clear and I don't get any bubbles in my collection cup. I didn't notice any bubbles yesterday either. I moved the o-ring all the way up and still nothing. Is the skimmer busted or does it just not make bubbles when the tank is clean?
The two causes I can think of are:
1. The sand left a slippery greasy film on everything and it's killing the bubbles.
2. I have about 90lbs established live rock, 2 turbo snails, and 5 crabs in my 90gal so far so there's probably not a lot of bio yet.
