Anyone ever tried to modify a Remora Pro skimmer for use in a sump?
I posted a thread a few weeks ago about attempting to hang a Remora Pro off a sump, however after taking a look at the Urchin's I've realized the two models really aren't that different. For instance, it appears as if the Urchin simply uses a longer intake tube with the Rio pump.
The problem, however, is going to be the water splash from the high return on the Remora Pro. I'm wondering if it would be possible to use the skimmer box (with the bubble pad at the bottom of the return side) to "catch" the return flow and drain it back into the sump? Maybe I could even cut a hole in the bottom of the intake side of the box and simply run the longer intake tube thru it (with the Rio sitting below the box on the floor of the sump) and up to the skimmer.
Just wondering if anyone's tried anything like this??
I REALLY don't feel like spending the money on a new skimmer, but would also REALLY like to get the Rio Pump out of my main tank.
