Removing BioBalls and Ceramic Rings from Nano Cube

Should I go ahead and remove the BioBalls and Ceramic Rings from the back of my 12g Nano cube that I just set up?
Someone said to remove them if I will be having corals... but I wont have corals for quite a while.. is there any advantage to leaving them in until then?

you can leave them in there .. they are just another type of filtration. when you get LR you'd like to have your LR be that filtration that replaces the bio balls and ceramic rings.

Maybe you could explain your setup a little more. The bio balls/rings are there for filtration, however, most people will toss them out b/c they use LR and LS in their nanos. In essence making the switch from mechanical filtration to biological filtration. It all depends on what type of setup you are going for. If you don't have adequate LR, then leave them in and monitor your nitrate levels closely. Popular opinion says bio balls are "nitrate factories". I should mention that I never found that to be the case with proper maintenance, in an old system I had. Also I don't believe too many people have experimented with the bio balls on the nano level, so who knows? :notsure: Whatever you do, keep us informed, and have fun. Remember, there's no "right" way to do something here.....
