Okay... i have a 29gal dt which has cc in it and i want to get rid of it... if i set up a 10gal according to the following will it work...
1. put new ls on the bottom of the 10gal
2. fill 10 gal with water from my 29
3. place all lr from my 29 into the 10 (only 17 lbs)
4. move all live stock to 10gal (how long do i have to wait to do this)
5. remove cc from 29
6. wait for water to clear in 29 and siphon all dust off bottom
7. put in new ls
8. remix and fill with RO water
9. move back lr
10. move back live stock (how long do i need to wait for this?? i hope i dont have to recycle)
seems too easy what am i missing... i will use light from 29 on 10 while doing this for the fox coral and anemone... let me know what you think and anything else i need to know...

Sounds like your on the right track. I'd wait at least a couple days then test the water before moving anything back. I did this in my 46 gal and had no trouble at all. Everything survived and looks great. That was almost a year ago.

I would skip the adding sand to the 10 gallon tank and just have it bare bottom.
here is what I would do if I was in your position.
1) fill the 10 gallon tank with water and put the rock and stock in it
2) siphon out the rest of the water down to the CC bed. and save
3) take out the CC and get a few mesh bags fill them with some of the CC from the 29 gallon tank
4) add your sand and the rest of the water back in the 29 gallon tank TIP at the end*** and the bags of CC that you saved
5) wait on dust storm to settle.
6) readd what is in the 10 gallon tank
*** When you readd the sand to the tank wet it down with some of the tank water and slowly add it into the water it will minimize the dust cloud just add it slowly.useing a bowl or cup to put it in the tank.
thats what I would do anyway. adding sand to the 10 as a temp holding tank is just a waste of time waiting on it to settle when your just going to put it back in the 29 gallon anyway. and your live rock has a lot of the bacterial growth anyway.

i am planning on using the 10gal as a FOWLR though... should i still do the bare bottom??? should i put a layer of cc or ls in the 10gal??? i have heard i can do both which do you suggest??? i want a p. clown in the 10gal and something else (havent decided yet) maybe a panther grouper... i just got 40lbs of ls for the 29... i would like to use some of the cc in the 10... how thick should i make it??? or use ls??? oh yeah... was kidding about the panther...

I would do your cc replacment on the 29 gallon and then work on the other tank. it will take less time to get it done .
as far as the 10 becareful I dont know what experience you have in SW but its harder to keep smaller tanks within the proper parameters. plus your fish selection is going to be limited me personally wouldnt put more than one fish in a 10 gallon tank 2 at the most. but honestly to me a 10 gallon tank jjust isnt worth messing with I would get another 29 or 20 gallon tank and open up a few more possibilities. BTW glad your kidding on the panther I would put one in my 100 gallon LOL
I wouldnt use CC at all. my 100+ pounds I had years ago got thrown out around my plants in the yard way to many problems.
as far as how much personally I wouldnt put more than 1-2 inches i dont like DSB because I had one crash others swear by it. so do some research before you decide which way you want to go there are pros and cons for both of them
I would use LS though and seed it with the mesh bags of CC till the life moves into the sand then remove the CC

what you really want it for is the bacteria and to help seed the new sand. the bacteria willhelp you from cycling and the worms and pods will migrate into your sand. I would use 2 bags size depends on what you can find to use and leave them for about a week.

its common for anemones to shrivel up when the are disturb really bad, give him a couple of days to see if it starts to come back. if nothin happened like rip or damage by accident when you were moving rocks around he should start coming back out.
as far as the crab whats it look like>?
unless you can get a positive ID on it I wouldnt add it back to the tank.
