want to remove paint on back wall of outside of tank to make it a see thru (see our post under "finally...our 180"). is there a way to safely do this without scratching the glass?

I agree with the razorblade idea.
If you are careful (and the tank is glass) you can use laquer thinner on a rag and just wipe it off if you are scared of the blade idea. Remember that this is going to get a little messy as the paint becomes mixed with the laquer and becomes watery and will drip if you don't pay attention. Just make sure you do not get any laquer thinner in the tank itself.
