Replace nutrients??

We recently set up our sump and skimmer, was wondering do you need to replace any necessary nutrients/elements that your skimmer may take out? Also want to get a RO thing but also have heard some things about the tap water purifier, what so you all think? I was reading/looking at the purifier and it was saying that you have to add a chemical to help get your pH back and a chemical that replaces electrolytes. That is why I also wondered about the necessary elements taken out by the skimmer. Thankx

Skimmers don't take out much in the way of essential nutrients. Regular water changes is really all you need to replace them. Unless you have corals that soak up tons of calcium (stony corals, clams, ect) then you really don't need to add anything to the tank. You should also not add anything that you can't test for to see the levels first.
If you want corals/reef tank, then RO is the way to go. If all you plan on is a FOWLR, then you could get away with tap purifyer as long as your tap water is reasonable (not too high in copper, chlorine, ect)
