Replacement bulbs

Where is the best and cheapest place online to get metal halide bulbs? I want to replace my current cheap halide bulb with something with more of a blue flavor! Any help would be great. Thanks Sean

here's a couple of sites you could peruse at your leisure...

i run the 12000K sunburst lamps and they are pretty blue. i like them a LOT and i think they really show off coral colors. :)

what is the benefit of 12000K vs. 20000K and what about the various levels of wattage? I never did quite understand all that.
thanks

well, 12000K bulbs don't need actinic supplement, but 20000K bulbs need daylight supplement. that's about it though...

I love my 12K bulbs.... they are given such a bad rap though... I rarely hear people say that they like them...

hey...i run the 12000K bulbs and my corals are THRIVING! In fact, i'm going to have to start selling/giving away some of them to avoid overcrowding and to make room for others. well, it may be true that the 10000K ushios have more PAR than the sunbursts, but the significance of that is, at best, to me smoke and mirrors. even my red and green open brain is at least 50% bigger than when i first got him (i looked at before and after pictures)...i guess the bottom line is that they ARE halides and if your tank is doing great, WHO CARES??? right? :)

I have been really pleased with my halide system it has improved the quality of my tank and it just looks better but I am runnin a 175 5500K because that was all I could afford, but I have started adding some corals and I just wanted to go with something a little more plant geared, and since I have had my light for about 6,7 months and I figured now would be a good time to uprgrade. Thanks for the info

i have mh two 175 10k and i recently replaced my bulbs. didnt want to pay $100 ea, online at Jeffs exotic fish i got them for $65. May be able to get them cheaper, if so let me know for next time. Thanks

I have been looking all over and getting really good prices on bulbs, and more information than I knew existed, but I am still a little confused about one thing, if I want to give it more of a blue actinic tint, is it possible to do this with the metal halide and if so what level K bulb and what wattage is best for what I am trying to accomplish? thanks again for the help

if you want to get a blue mh i tink you have to see it. there is alot of different mh bulbs out there i used to have the 65,000k and they were too yellow i replaced them with two 10,000k plus and they are great with what i was looking for. i got them from my lfs and they showed me the different light colors they had. the 10,000k plus is blue and the 10,000k is yous like white. sorry for the spelling.
