ok well after a long drive we finnaly made it there, around noon, the place was packed, smelled like too many people that havent seen the light of day in months. welcome to spring in new england. I popped by a couple booths to say hi to various people I knew vending. and ran into a couple of people I wasn't sure I was going to see, but they were there. there were almost no corn snakes at all, apparantly everyone is having a hard time getting them, according to my friend josh that co-owns J and J retiles with his wife. bummer was looking for a red striped, scratch that off the list. My primary target on this venture to find a female Tokay Gecko, the best gecko ever (Gekko gecko) you cant get much more gecko than A scientific name like that. found her. of the pics of tokays below she is the smaller darker one on the substrate, my male dwarfs her but hopefully it works out.
we also found another whites for my girlfriends frog tank, then an Impulse buy had us bringing home two chinese gliding frogs as well, that $60 in just frogs. my female tokay was only $10. so thats $70 so far.
went over to the tavern had a beer or two (okay it was two) went back to get a thousand crickets and ended up buying pair of water dragons $12 each so 70+12=82$ in pets another $15 for the crickets brings us to $95. bought a few things needed like UVB light and we are well over a hundred....... [plus gas, tolls, food, and beer] so expensive weekend but fun.
here are some pictures of the critters, today I am going to finish the water dragon set up and build a top for the cage as well as filtration (water dragons poop in their water so its best to have an automated removal system)

all different vendors, there were so many there I can remember the names. it was insane there. the big snake selection was awesome. some of the color morphs on cresteds were awesome too. I was hopeing to snatch up a breeding pair but they were asking wayyyy to much for common morphs the rarer morphs were astronomical.
I managed to get myself bit while trying to --- tokays. that was fun, I was soo jazzed on caffine that I nearly jumped out of my skin even though I knew I didnt grab it right. I got it too low so it was able to reach around and get me. really freaked out the lady next to me.

there were tons of kingsnakes but very few corns. maybe a total of 20 corns out of 3000 snakes.

you dont even want to know what the upkeep cost is on this many animals, I would say about as much as a single horse maybe two.

Wow, I though my old apartment was full of aquariums and cages but it was nothing compared to yours! Do you charge admission?

How in the world do you take care of them all!! I think you should buy an extra building and make it a sweet reptile house and fish house.

yeah tokays are mean as all get out but they are beautiful. in the two years I have had the big one its only bitten me twice. usually it does the If I dont move it wont see me thing when I reach into his cage. he's only bitten when I grabbed him. thats reasonable in my mind.

You'd be suprised how little time it takes to maintain everyone. about 45 Minutes a day, and an hour and a half on the weekends, we break up the heavy maintinece through the week change one thing one day another the next and so on.
Everyone else
here is the water dragon set up, with out plants, we are going to be adding some plants to flesh it out and a BG. I'm going to use vines to hide the hose for my homemade rainmaker/filter. as you can see water gets picked up on the right side of the tank and ran to the top in the hood I have a 1 1/2 litre tupperware home made rainmaker/filter. it splashes on the glass quite a bit but my previous water dragons LOVED sitting in the rain section. I might put a smaller power head on it later but for now I gotta go with what I had on hand. need to get a better daylight too but one thing at a time.

sweet, i've been lookin for a tokay, but the only ones my lfs gets are full grown, and i'm lookin for a baby, how big is yours?, their full grown ones eat live mice..
the frogs are sweet, i used to have a tree frog tank, 30 long with: 3 green tree frogs, 1 south american leopard frog, 1 whites tree, and 1 asian flying tree, i used to take them in my bathroom and play with them while they jumped around the walls.
the water dragons are cool, the only problem is they get a couple feet long.. hope you plan on upgrading..
and thats really surprising that there weren't corn snakes..

full sized mice are really too big for them even when full grown, I do feed mine hoppers though both of mine are adults the male is hands down the largest tokay I have ever seen thats why I want to breed him.

Yeah this isnt the first pair I have owned. they are just way too small for a 4x4x6 foot enclosure right now, once they are ready I'm going to build them a full on reptarium with plants and a pond, and most likley move the flying tree frogs into it since they are from the same area and can be housed safely together. (some ones probably going to flame me and say different herps shouldnt be kept together but thats like saying you shouldnt keep different species of fish together if they are compatible as to environment and not a threat to each other the purism of herpers right wing fanatics can kiss my grits)

I agree I was very dismayed at the lack of selection of corns. but my friend that owns Jand J reptiles said corns were extremely hard to come by this season.
