We have this installed in the lid of our canopy on our 55 gal tank. The instructions say to attach the end cap wires to the canopy lid with those little white plastic clamps leaving enought slack so the canopy can open and close without putting tension on the bulbs. Maybe it's our canopy size, but there really isn't enough room to attach 2 wires to the lid on each side (the wires end up either catching in the lid as you close the canopy or the end cap seems to come loose from the PC bulb and you hear a zapping noise as the light slowly flickers out SCARY). I tried pushing the bulbs in further on the reflector (more towards the center) but then the end caps come off of the bulbs because the end of the aluminum reflector gets in the way of the cord coming out of the end cap wire. Does anyone have any experience with these lights or any other suggestions? My husband is telling me we bought crappy lights, but he doesn't realize that they are pretty decent and that they just aren't fitting right in our canopy (even though this canopy is store bought and is NOT custom made).
If you have one of these, you'll know what I'm talking about or you can check out http://www.jbjlighting.com/inst_retrofit.html
