return overflow and sump

So I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I have a CPR Cy194 , http://www.***********.com/CPR_CY194_Filter_Wet_Dry_Filter_Units-CPR-CR1363-FIFRWDUO-vi.html with an extra chamber I had built to hold extra water so I didn't have to top it off so much. Approximately 20 x 20. I have a 240 gallon tank and my old via aqua 2600 is not power full enough for my tank. I purchased a Rio hf 26 but I am worried that it will be too much flow for my sump or tank. I plumbed it to have two outlets and I am waiting for a second overflow box to keep up because my current one can only handle up to 800 gph and this pump quickly over runs it. I am currently using four power heads in my tank as well, I wonder if I should get rid of these once I get this pump operational. The pumps are about 1050 gph each. They are the hydor koralias. I keep some leather coral and other soft coral mostly haven't had good luck with the lps corals so Ive stayed away. Am I overdoing it with this pump or was I really under filtering before.

IMHO, even the Rio is a bit tame for a 240 gal, esp if you're running a reef.
FWIW, I'm running a Pan World PS-200 (zero head = 1750 gph) as a main return pump (two returns on a SCWD), and a ReeFlo Dart (zero head = 3740 gph) on a 210 gal setup that's a foot shorter than your 240, plus it's a FOWLR setup. The Dart is running four CL returns thru a 4-way Oceans Motions. no powerheads are used at all.
As you suspected, you're going to need to bump up your overflow to a dual standpipe model to keep up with the pump. Another thing you can do is run a "bleed-off" line from a T in the main return that runs back to the sump. This will allow you to tune your return to your overflow's output, which will give you max quiet and max efficiency.
Here's a little sketch:

That is a great idea I have a ball valve currently gong on the return but with the single overflow it just seemed like I was choking the pump way to much.SO I decided just to wait to add the new pump. I was thinking about doing that and incorporating a refugium on the other side of my current sump and I could use the return set up you suggested to run water through that. Thank you for your advice I guess I was just overly worried about how much that pump seemed to move when I turned it on.

I use this configuration on most of our setups. Sometimes I don't even open the bleed valve, but it's nice to have it there if I do need it. I've also used this bleed-off to fill fuges as well.
