Return Pump Power .

They say about a 5X's turn around. That's about what mine will be here shortly after my pump upgrade. Right now I have a 180gal with 70gal sump/fuge. Totals 250 gal. My current pump is 1100GPH and I ordered a 1500GPH pump to be at my door by Friday. so I'll have approx 6X's. By the way, I don't think it's allowed to post competitors websites. I'm not the cops, but I'm sure they'll be close behind... just say'in.
Good luck!

I agree with the 5x turnover per hour for the total system volume. When it comes to filtration, IMO faster doesn't always mean better. Now, when it comes to circulation/flow inside of the tank using powerheads then yes, 10x-15x is generally fine for most mixed reef tanks. I'm setting my tank up for around 4x turnover per hour through the sump and 20x-30x in my display using powerheads. This should alow for longer contact time in the fuge for macro algae and bacteria to be effective and for deitrus to settle in the sump instead of the display tank.

you mean the 8000L/H return pump is too much for my tank ???
If you are running a sump and refugium then no I don't see any need to push that much flow through the sump. The slower flow will allow more organics to settle in there to be handled by your skimmer and fuge. If those organics are traveling too fast then they'll go right back up to the tank. Some people like to run mechanical filtration like filter socks or pads in there sump to help combat this. But that just means more things to have to clean.
But as I mentioned, flow inside of the display using powerheads is a different story. I agree with 10-15x turnover in the display itself, infact I would maybe go a little higher.
