Not sure what the "Rhino Tuff" brand is made of exactly, but as long as it's the rubbermaid material and not metal, it will be fine. As far as the ph, you do not need one for fresh water storage (for top offs and/or prior to mixing), but yes, once the salt is added I keep a ph in 24/7 until I use it. This keeps everything moving and consistent and discourages any settling. Even still, there will occassionally be some salt that settles or builds up, so the can will need cleaning once in awhile.
