I got a medium size ric, with one mouth. Had it for about 3months now, I'm new to fragging. Please help a first timer!! Thanks!

if your planning to just keep it for yourself then just get yourself a nice sharp razor blade and cut it in one swipe across the mouth. i have been dipping mine in seachem reef dip for 5 minutes right after i make the cut before putting it back in the tank. ive had good results with this method without losing one. the reefdip is iodine based and it seems to help with the healing and stave off infection.
if you want to put them on a plug or some other holder and trade them then you'll have to make the cut either across the mouth or across the base. then put the piece not on the rock into a small dixi-cup with some rubble on the bottom and cover the top with cheese cloth or some other mesh. it will eventually attach itself in a few days.

Is it best to cut it while still in the display tank, or shall i remove the rock it's attached to make the cut, outside the tank? To avoid stress to the ric, shall i use my fingers to hold the ric while making the cut? Thanks

For the experience, I guess. It's a nice looking ric, just to have another one. But, if it will do it on it's own. I just purchased a ric and a day later it split giving me 2 for the price of 1! Both rics look great!

Why do you want to frag it? It is best to just let them split on their own.
