I just got these in last week. I aclimated them and set them on the floor of my tank out of strong flow. It took them a bit to open up and now they are opening, but I notice they don't seem as bright.
Is it because they are opening and expanding, or are they fading?
Should I raise them higher in my tank?
I have a 12 gal. aquapod, 32 watt (Sunpaq Dual Actinic 420/460nm & Sunpaq Dual Daylight 6700k/1000k)
nitrates:0
nitrites:0
amonia:0
PH 7.8
Alk 180
Salinity: 1.023

I just got 2 a few weeks back and it took a few days before they opened fully. Now they are bigger and look better than when I got them.

One thing that you need to consider that you probably have a lower lighting than where you purchased this ric from. One thing is that its adjusting to your tank and lighting, and lighting plays a major role in coloration!

the wattage just isnt very bright in the tank. If you upgraded to the 70w sunpod you would see a major difference in the way your whole setup looks... but thats just coming from a diehard Metal halide reefer

Good Luck
They look healthy and happy!

thanks,
I think I was just getting nervous. They do still look good. They seem brighter when they close up for the night. NOw that I have had them a bit I'm getting to know them a little better.
I want to spot feed, I heard that will help with their color too. What do they like to eat?

You can feed them frozen foods, just place a small bit near the mouth and they will usually start to fold around it. I often give mine some crab pellets from Hikari, for some reason they love these. Break them apart again as they are quite the size of pellet for their mouths. These I have found to be the best they like.
Your salinity might be increased a bit too. I have mine at 1.026. This was suggested to me by Flricordia on this site, he is the master of ricordeas if you have not read some of his posts and seen his pictures you might want to take the time to do so. Very nice guy with loads of help to offer you as well.
