Ricordia base lifting.

I have a large ricordia whose base has expanded out far to the sides. I thought it was splitting but I can't easily see. Now one leg of the base is lifting up. Is this something that happens when shrooms split or does this indicate a problem?
Sorry no pics. I'm going ot do a water change tonight and check levels. Anything in particular I should be on the lookout for?

im not quite sure what you mean, but it sounds like you are saying the base/foot is extended out more than the top? if thats true, then its prob just ready to split. when rics get irritated, they shrink up more, not extend their base out farther. does it have one mouth or more than one?

It pretty big. The base was expanded past it's mantel. But now that base has lifted up. strange.

Mine split the same way.
I cut the loose half off and put it in a dish of rubble with a piece of bridal veil over it to keep the hermits out. After it attached to a piece of rubble I glued it back in the display.
Both are doing great!

Would you suggest I cut this piece off or let it go about its business? It worked for you. Anyone else have input?

i would say let it do its thing but people have successfully cut them also....up to you

I fragged mine because I was worried it would get swept away in the current and get lost in the rockwork.
If its just starting to split, I would wait until there is a obvious division between the two.
I was lucky to come home early and noticed the second half barely hanging on to the original. After simple slice with a razor I dropped it into a clean Dole fruit cup (I love those things, so useful) with some rubble.
