water quality, light, food...
You will see 2 mouths. They will move further apart. then they will start to pinch and you can see the split start. They you have 2. A split can take 1-2 months.

I have several different colors and species of rics for years...never seen any split ( not saying they dont ) but have had many produce buds from under their base. Some do it more often than other and some have never reproduced.

Nice pics dog. I agree with both actually. I have a ric that split itself like Maniac said and I have one that split by budding. So both are correct. You can also frag them yourself by cutting and leaving some mouth on each cut. But that is a "do at your own risk" manuver

thats because you have yumas(at least the ones in the pics are) I personally never seen a yuma split either although have seen a alot of flordia ricordeas split with multiply mouths and have seen them split with only a single mouth than grow the mouth later on the ones that didn't have one and I have some that never split yet just keep getting bigger

Do you have to cut them down the middle including the mouth in the cut?
I have fragged shrooms without including the mouth and they grew just fine. Is this the same with ricordia?

no you do not have too its just faster for the shroom to grow a mouth and and a new skirt at the same time

Ibew is right. Those are yuma ricordea and they drop babies like most mushrooms. They don't develop multiple mouths like Floridas do. Instead they will move a little and leave part of the base/foot in place which will separate and grow into a new yuma.
And if you do try to cut your yuma try to keep it underwater and only cut it if it is firm to the touch after you touch it to make it close up. If it becomes flabby and spits its guts probably best to let it reproduce on its own. Yo will probably end up killing it if you cut it.
Florida ricordias on the other hand you can take out of the water, cut them into 2-4 pieces and they will regrow, if your water parameters are in range.
