At first I was kinda ticked, looked like something had fallen into the tank......I'm constantly amazed at what you see in reef tanks

At first I thought something had fallen into the tank, then I looked at it and thought I had some kinda ultra weird nudi or other creature as it looks so amazingly odd, then the ric was done and the mouth retracted....

This is the same ric, it's only about 1" across and the mouth is maybe 1/8 so I had to really crop and enlarge to get this image. There is NO color enhancing or photoshopping, with my actinics it really looks this neon pinkish......This image is one of my favorite even though focus is off..
I've even though about having this blownup into a poster and having framed..

LOL....Thanks.......
Nope nothing special just your basic Nikon D40 and a realy nice 105mm Macro lens, heck the lens cost almost twice what the camera body cost. My camera kit cost me $495 thru amazon and from there I added the Macro lens.
Part of the secret is that I minimize all visual noise as much as possible, this is usually camera shake or vibration caused by pressing the shutter button, sounds silly but you can't begin to understand how many problems it causes when doing detail macro work. I can't stress enough how important a good tripod is! Also, use a shutter remote or the camera timer! All the pumps off and clean the glass on the inside of the tank right before the shot.

I've got several thousand photos, I usually spend about an hour a day playing with the camera, taking pics, adjusting settings, moving corals around etc....practice makes perfect
