Ricordias under MH only???

I have moved all of my ricordia to my 100G frag tank under 2 X 175 MHs. They do not seem to being doing so well? Any words of wisdom? Alkalinity did slip a little low but has since been corrected? Should I just put them back under PCs? They are at the bottom of the tank (14 inch) and slighlty shaded. Purple and orange are ok, but the watermellons are struggling?

Same here, agree with coraljunky. I had them in a 55 before with 2 175 MH's, and they slowly got smaller and smaller till it was gone. Don't know if too much light is bad for them, just what has happened to me in the past. Can you shade them at all?

Rics will most likely not do very well in a shallow frag tank with MHs. They are a low light coral that does not do well in anything but low light. Did you acclimate them to the light, or just run them 11hours a day from the get go? I would definitely move them all back over to PCs or put them under somewhat of a "shelf" in the tank where they are somewhat shadowed. I hope they perk up, they are one of my favorite corals (behind my Xenias of course. . . .lol)

Agree, rics don't need that intense lighting. Create some caves or overhangs with LR or move them to the far corners of the tank

They are all in a pretty shaded corner now. I just think they like PCs. If they start to fade more, back to another tank they go.

What bulbs are you running. I have a 125g softie with 3x150w with XM bulbs and my rics are loving it, mounted about half way up directly under the lights. Myabe the extra 25w is enough to cause them problems?
