Ridding tank of ich?

After removing fish from reef to put into HT, what can be done in main tank to rid it of the infestation? Will it die with no fish or can it find host on LR or inverts (or on plants/algae on LR)?

As long as your tank remains fishless while you treat your fish in the hospital tank, it should ready to go for fish, say in a month or so.
