rio 1700 pump

I have two rio 1700 pumps on an 72 gallon bow front tank. I think the rio`s are way to loud. Is this something normal? Has anyone else had these pumps? Also what is an good quiete pump I can get for this tank I have one for my protein skimmer witch is an excaliber, and one for my sump. Thanks in advance.

rio pumps suck i got one and it burnt up 4 months latter every time the power went off the pump wouldent work "iguess air would get stuck in the impeller so i went with a little giant but now im going with mag drive no problems so far

I had a rio running my skimmer. It was getting louder and louder, although it was till running. we were wondering why the skimmer was skimming much. Anyway, the rio got loud enough that we started playing around with it and when we bumped it hard enough it began running quiet again. It also pumped harder and skimmer was skimming again. Happened once more before I got rid of that pump and got a Mag pump.

Rio's when they get older they get louder. I guess that is why they are so cheep. If your are looking for a good internal pump I like mag, I have had one for 3 years no problems.

Mags are the best IMO
