Rio Pumps--What's wrong with them!

Several of you have made negative comments about Rio Pumps. Since I'm fairly new to the hobby (a little over two months), I'm quite concerned now. Both my main water-return pump and skimmer pump are Rio brand. What should I be aware of? What bad experiences did you guys have? How can I resolve my situation?

I have a rio return pump and haven't had any problems with it. ( other than my own stupidity by pumping water all over my floor when I didn't put a clamp on my return line.)
