:help:
Walked in my office this morning and turned on the lights. Usually, when I do this, my sweet little clownfish would come swimming out of wherever he was to eagerly greet me at the front of the tank. This morning, that didn't happen. I immediately knew something was wrong and knew he must have died.
I looked towards the top of the tank to see if he was floating somewhere and didn't see him. Saw him at the bottom of the tank, the hermit crab had him.
He must have died very soon before I arrived because the crab had not yet made any punctures on him, there was not a mark on him. In fact, I don't know *what* killed him. He has been fine, eating well, swimming around happily all the time. He was the only fish in the tank. He's been in there for a month and a half. No problems at all.
If anything, I noticed that he never was as "orange" as all of the other clownfish I've seen, kind of like a pale orange color. I know that he shouldn't have "grown" much, if any, in that month and a half, but he just seemed very, very small to me and ate like a pig, but never grew any. He would always look "full" up front, but the back end of him would look very thin. Could this have indicated anything?
I'm definately sad about his passing. He was such a sweet little fish with so much personality. Maybe he knew that I would be changing tanks this Friday and knew that the move from a 6 gallon to a 14 gallon would be a little too stressful for him.
Poor thing.
I think that I'm gonna wait a little bit before I get another fish. Trying to decide what to get now. Right now, I just have 2 fire shrimp, a margarita snail and a crab that will be making the move on Friday.
Does anyone have any suggestions?? Maybe a pair of very small clownfish? Anyone?
As always, thanks so much for your support and advice.
